The Story:
Marion Peillareau and Paul Pellissier, a pharmacist-distiller, are your storytellers and take you through 40 years of a bustling Third Republic, a Paris at the height of its development, and rural areas undergoing profound transformation.
A creole peasant from the 1880s, Marion paints a picture of her life: coming from a modest family, Marion wants her children to have brilliant studies. She will be among the first to leave agricultural work to go "to town," working at Paul Pellissier's distillery amidst men.
Married for love, attentive mother, Marion heard about Parisian lights from the masons of the Creuse who, between two Haussmannian construction campaigns, returned home. But Marion prefers her homeland, her life in the Creuse, less bright but more human...
