Discover the residence of a 15th century prince
You may know his castle in Angers, from which he ruled over Anjou to Jerusalem, but do you know his private residence, where this erudite lord loved to live, receive friends, hunt, write?
The one who was one of the greatest princes of the Renaissance, cousin of the kings of France, cultivated arts as a knight-artist, collected exotic animals, tended to his gardens and forests... His private life was here, in Baugé, at his warm and refined residence.
The King René's Palace is a scenographic path designed for the entire family. A journey full of surprises where you can dream about the daily life of King René.

The Hotel Dieu and its 17th century apothecary:

Founded under Louis XIV in 1650, the Hotel-Dieu de Baugé accepts poor and indigent people. The Sisters Hospitalières de Saint Joseph provide them with both bodily and spiritual care for 350 years.
How did our ancestors take care of themselves under Louis XIV, during the Revolution, before World War I or in the 60's? The Hotel-Dieu de Baugé has gone through all these periods. It tells an exciting story... That of health.
Enter the most beautiful apothecary in Europe!
Classified as a historical monument, the apothecary of the Hotel-Dieu de Baugé, opened in 1675, contains a collection of over 650 pots and boxes, one of the richest of its time. Their mysterious names will amuse both children and adults: dragon's blood, crayfish eyes, crab lice powder... authentic remedies from that era!
